Best Wedding Officiant
This morning, I officiated a Vietnamese-Burmese, Buddhist Muslim wedding. It’s pure joy to see different people come together and live harmoniously. You don’t have to be like-minded to live in harmony, but learn to accept and respect each other for who you are. These young couples are creating a new paradigm.
I have created several new rituals, one of them is asking the bride and groom to turn toward each other’s parents and say whatever is in their hearts. Both the bride and groom are raised here and addressed to the parents-in-law with their first names. There was a murmur, then they re-addressed them as Mom and Dad. I explained, in American culture, we address by their name, whereas, in Asian cultures, we never address parents or parents-in-law by their name, as it is considered disrespectful.
I am blessed to have interacted with people from so many nationalities, ethnicities, cultures, and faiths. The more we learn there is a lot more to learn. I love officiating weddings.
